Terraced House in Quiet Waterfront Location in Oranienburg
Welcome to Oranienburg, a rural riverside community! With its population of 45,000, this town in the north of Brandenburg lies only a 20-minute drive from the northern city limits of Berlin. The River Havel and its tributaries as well as lakes and woodlands line your way there as if to illustrate the transition from the big-city bustle to the easy-going comforts of Berlin’s greater metro region. Berlin’s growth is making the boundaries between the metropolis and its greater metro area in the State of Brandenburg more fluid and at the same time is causing the Berlin-Brandenburg region to become more tightly networked—both economically and culturally.
The terraced houses are being built along Neckarstrasse, a newly developed street, right on the bank of the Havel. The one thing separating the houses with their private garden sections from the water is a public greenway including a narrow footpath. The land south of the complex of terraced properties is occupied by single-family detached homes and open areas. North of it runs a former railway right-of-way that the City of Oranienburg acquired to create an inter-regional cycling and hiking trail. Oranienburg is quite aptly labelled a “bicycle-friendly city”, which in turn boosts its level of liveability and its appeal for tourists. The Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycling trail passes through Oranienburg as one of the more well-known routes, and the Lake and Culture Cycling Trail takes you on a scenic route of 215 kilometres through the Ruppiner Land region, while the Havel Bicycle Trail of 334 focuses on heritage sites related to the history of Prussia.
Oranienburg: Enchanting Location with Optimal Connectivity to Berlin and the Wider Region
With its enchanting location in the heart of a landscape dotted with lakes and numerous sights, Oranienburg is more than a fascinating day-trip destination for around two million visitors per year. With its growing infrastructure and its convenient location, Oranienburg represents an optimal place of residence for people who prefer the quiet atmosphere of a small town to life in a city of several million. The distance to the city limits of Berlin is around 10 kilometres while downtown Berlin is about 35 kilometres away. Travelling to Berlin on regional or commuter trains takes about half an hour. The commute to the German capital by car is equally swift via the A10 motorway orbital or the A111 southbound expressway.
More and more people who dream of living in a green area surrounded by forests and bodies of water and simultaneously appreciate the proximity of the big city are moving to Oranienburg. The vibrant county seat on the River Havel and at the gates of Berlin has been put on the map both for locals and visitors not least by the urban renewal of the inner city, including Oranienburg Palace, and by the restructuring of the palace grounds for the 2009 State Horticultural Show.
Demand for housing, particularly the demand for single-family detached homes and building sites to build homes, has skyrocketed in recent years. With this in mind, the timing for the development of new terraced properties on Neckarstrasse could not be better to make the dream of a home of their own come true at least for some people.
